futureAM – Next Generation Additive Manufacturing

With futureAM, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is systematically driving forward the further development of additive manufacturing of metallic components! To this end, six experienced institutes in the field of additive manufacturing have entered into a strategic project partnership:

• Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Manufacturing Technologies IAPT
• Fraunhofer-Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Angewandte Materialforschung IFAM
• Fraunhofer-Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung IGD
• Fraunhofer-Institut für Lasertechnik ILT
• Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkstoff- und Strahltechnik IWS
• Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Umformtechnik IWU

The strategic project partnership has set itself two goals:

1. to establish an overarching cooperation platform for highly integrative collaboration and the use of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's decentralized distributed resources in the field of additive manufacturing (AM)

2. to create the technological prerequisites for a practice-relevant increase in the scalability, productivity and quality of AM processes for the production of individualized
